Columbus Day Weekend
Wednesday, October 10, 2007
My friend, Aifang, commented that the black color font that I'm using is really hard to read so I'm trying out this new pink, hope it looks better, otherwise, let me know and I'll try some other Font color! Hehe...
Last weekend was the Columbus day weekend right after our holiday so it was great. A good time for us to rest since we were wiped out from the trip. Also Jason had been under the weather after the trip so it was a great time for him to rest.
And finally Jason and I made Popiah! It was our first try and it was good! Thanks to Donzy Christmas Peranakan recipe book, we've been using it to try out many peranakan dishes! Think the next trial would be "Chup Cai"! I am missing Kor Chit's Chup Cai very much.
Darling making his popiah, he claims he wrap it better than me. :)
Yummy!
Me trying to cut it up like those in the coffee shops back home.
We had the trial in the afternoon and invited Lei and Jervis over for dinner to help finished the rest of the popiah. Wanted to invite Kit and Derek but they were out shopping.Well the boys finished up everything! Hehe great... Poor Jervis fell ill and he looked really green. Glad the popiah is healthy enuf for a ill person. Even made barley honey for everyone, guess the flu bug is in the air and we need to drink more water!
Anyway, we had leftover turnip mix but no more popiah skin so Jason and I tried making our own popiah skin for the leftover turnips the next day.
Well it didn't taste as well as the ready made skins we bought from the Ranch. But still not too bad, very soft.
Leftover popiah fillings...
The skin makes the popiah smaller... but prettier.
We also had our own Sushi on Friday, the rice wasn't too great though. Gonna try again soon.
And on Columbus day itself, we thought that there might be a sale going on so we went to Anthem outlet to check out the sales. Not much though but we still manage to get Megan and Dad's birthday present. Also manage to get the V neck tees from Ralph Lauren as well as 2 pillows! Jason had been complaining about headache from the soft pillows we have. Which we bought from Sam's club. Surprisingly they were from Serta and yet they aint too comfortable for our necks. The Ralph Lauren ones were pretty nice cost only $17 each so we were pretty satisfied.
Check out our purchases! :)
we had Chengyi's leftover Prima Taste for Laksa that night, yummy but super rich. Can't imagine the amount of calories we piled up from the coconut powder they have from the pre-pack!
Well it was a great Columbus day and we really had a good rest! Frosty and I resting!
